With the news of the devastating tsunami that hit Japan, and the radioactive contamination of the surrounding area, I was preoccupied with thoughts of how deceptive and deadly nature can become. Kabloom! is a series of sculptural flowers, formed in earthenware and fired with brilliantly colored and crackled glazes, which aggressively transcend the boundaries of their milk painted frames.

In Toxic Nectar I and II painted imagery of bees in distress reflects the deadly impact that human ingenuity has had on nature. Things may look alluringly beautiful, but be quite toxic.
